The Lüner reservoir railway in the Brandnertal brings you directly to the Lüner reservoir at 1,979 m above sea level.
Even the ascent, which lasts 5 minutes, is an experience. Once you have reached the top, you will be fascinated by the beauty of the Lüner reservoir and the surrounding mountains. The nature reserve around the lake is a paradise for hikers, mountaineers and leisure fishers and it enchants with its magnificent Alpine flora and the impressive panorama. The Lüner reservoir is the ideal starting point for cosy and challenging hikes in the middle of the Rätikon. Circumnavigation of the lake is doable for adults and children. The classic for experienced hikers is a hike to the Schesaplana (2,966 m), the highest mountain in the Rätikon.
A stop at the Douglass Hut right at the mountain station should not be missed out on.
The hut is an ideal trip destination for groups and has cosy parlours and a sunny terrace with a lake view. The hut service indulges you throughout the day with specialities from traditional Austrian cuisine, coffee and cake as well as varieties of ice cream. The Douglass Hut also offers special packages for groups of at least 21 people upon pre-order – ascent and descent with the Lüner reservoir railway including coffee and cake, a sundae, mountain breakfast or 3-course meal in the Douglass Hut.
