Since 2010, the gateway to the state capital has shined with a new splendour.
The Bregenz littoral was mentioned for the first time in 1294. The first testimonies of a landing also date from this time. Since its origins in the Middle Ages, the landing has become a modern port, which now accommodates the increasing visitor frequency on land and by sea thanks to an extensive redesign. The new port is inviting and offers some design and architectural delights.
The centre of the new port is the new port building, designed by architects Nägele, Waibel, Spagolla, Ritsch and Steinmann. While visitors can stroll west through the well-known Bregenz lakeside area towards the Bregenz Festival and Conference House, to the north stretches the so-called “Blumenmolo”, at whose top on the side of the lake a lighthouse rises into the sky. At the same time, it marks the western orientation point of the port entrance. Towards the west, direct access to the lake was created through the creation of sunset seating steps.
Visitors reach the port restaurant through an alley from the new port building towards the east via a newly designed square significantly enlarged through backfill and fill. Due to the relocation of the commercial navigation to the Blumenmolo, the restaurant can be used for catering purposes in future.
The new Bregenz marina is an attractive docking destination for guests. The entrance is distinguished by the “little brother” of the lighthouse at the Blumenmolo.
The Bregenz wave
The wave at the port of Bregenz, designed by architects Nägele, Waibel, Spagolla, Ritsch and Steinmann, is not just architecturally outstanding. In particular, its location by Lake Constance promises unforgettable moments and beautiful sunsets while enjoying first-class food and drink.
