In the summer months, the pleasantly invigorating water of Lake Constance offers a refreshing change from a city trip. Not far from the centre of the city of Bregenz, the bathing fun in the outdoor pools and on the beaches is very close to the urban goings-on and yet far removed from the usual hustle and bustle of everyday life. Locals also take advantage of the qualities of Lake Constance to take a little time out.
Bregenz is also a popular destination for sailors. The new marina is an attractive docking destination for guests – as is the sport harbour, located slightly further to the east. The highlight of the sailing season at Lake Constance is the East-West Regatta. This year, it begins on 28 July in Bregenz. Then the ships head for Konstanz, 46 kilometres away. Last year, when the route was covered in the opposite direction, approximately 250 ships were involved.
In the gondola port, between the fisherman’s footbridge and the Festival House, there is the chance to hire electric boats, pedal boats and rowing boats at the Feurstein boat rental service. As your own captain, you have the opportunity to explore Lake Constance, or simply to let yourself be driven by the waves. Additionally: trips and tours for up to seven people with the “lake taxi”, a 175-hp-strong Bayliner motorboat.

On the Pfänder (1,064 metres above sea level), the local mountain of the city of Bregenz, families have a lot of fun in the small ski resort. The downhill fun can be reached via 2 ski lifts (the Maldonalift and the Dohlelift). The slopes are groomed when there is sufficient snow lying on the mountain and the ski route to Bregenz is open. If there is a good snow situation, the ski lifts at the mountain station are in operation on a limited basis on Saturdays and Sundays from 10am to 4.30pm. The Pfänderbahn is in operation daily from 8am to 7pm.
