Delicacies from Austria: Austrian cuisine is often equated with Viennese cuisine. However, Austria’s traditional cuisine offers many regional variations, most of which are connected to the cooking tradition of the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy. In addition to the independent regional traditions, it was influenced above all by cooking traditions from Hungary, Bohemia and Northern Italy. Dishes and ways of preparation were often adopted, integrated into their own cuisine and adapted, goulash being an example. Austrian cuisine is internationally known above all for its cooked desserts and sweet dishes as well as for dishes such as boiled fillet and Viennese schnitzel.
