Freakwave Festival 2013: The trend event is again at the Lake of Constance with music, sports and young culture in the bathing beach Bregenz and the “Festspielhaus” in Bregenz

From 28th August to 1st September provides the Freakwave Festival in Bregenz for a exciting ending of the summer. At the Gibbon Slackline Worldcup will the world’s best slackliners be seen. This is the first year a freerunning area for runners is built in the bathing beach Bregenz. In the evening are playing famous bands like Blumentopf, Reptile Youth or Ladi6 in the “Festspielhaus” on the “Werkstattbühne”. There is a colorful program for culture and sport enthusiasts.
The festival lasts five days and it brings an international festival atmosphere to Bregenz like every year. The various programs connect sport, music and culture with each other, so there is a perfect balance. The sportive highlight is of course the Slackline Worldcup. The organizer Peter Hörburger tells: “At the Slackline Worldcup are coming the ten best slackliners of the world.” On Friday and Saturday are international known music bands, like Blumentopf, Reptile Youth, Ladi6, AG Trio, Kristian Davidek, DJ Beware, the Pullup Orchestra and a lot of more bands at the festival stage in the “Festspielhaus”.
Start on Wednesday
It starts on Wednesday with an international shortfilm selection of different film festivals in cooperation with the alpinale shortfilm festival. Expanded is the evening with the film “Searching for Sugar Man” and with nice sound of the Freakwave Djs.
The Freakwave dedicates Thursday to the young professionals and promotions for youth culture. On the open air stage are concerts of newcomers from the region at the Lake of Constance held.
Highlights at the weekend
On Friday and Saturday are special sportive highlights at the bathing beach Bregenz. The new attraction on the festival this year is the freerunning area , where international parkour professionals show their abilities. The sklackline worldcup will also stop in Bregenz like the last years. On Friday is the qualification for Saturday, because then they can match themselves with the eight best slackliners of the world. Directly at the lake is the IOU skate miniramp, which is constructed only for this event. Rounded are the sport-facilities by the trend sports Stand Up Paddle and Longboard. The highlight reaches the Freakwave in the “Werkstattbühne”. Visualartists like Luma&Launisch, Neon Golden and Paranormal Unicorn dive the “Festspielhaus” into a special light. International known acts like Blumentopf, the Danish duo Reptile Youth, Ladi6 from New Zealand, AG Trio, Kristian Davidek are just a small part of the music-program this year.
On Sunday takes the traditional Freakwave morning pint place. The last freestyle-shows, the Freakwave charity race and some professionals are showing their disciplines in the area of the festival. The festival concludes with a cold drink and live music in a comfortable atmosphere.
Guests of all ages are invited to participate the stand up paddle race. The qualification is on Friday afternoon. At the final on Saturday are distributed some prices. If someone hasn’t enough after that, it is possible to let off steam at the skate miniramp, the longboard-area or the 60 meter long waterline.
